Some things to ponder

Breaking and Entering – forcing change will keep you stuck

I recently read a post  related to doing more challenging yoga postures.  There is an art to it, a process for making the body and the mind ready.  The journey to the full expression of the pose – is the yoga.  The idea is to start from the very basic posture, adding on tiny movements coordinated with your inhales and exhales, and slowly and elegantly you arrive at your full expression.

“Move one breath at a time and open from the inside out instead of trying to break into the pose like it’s a locked apartment.  Every blockage in your body deserves your breath, love and attention.” – Ben Sears, LuxYoga

This is really great advice as we begin to make any changes in our lives, we must ease into the change, check in with ourselves, understand where there is fear, or any other kind of blockage – and be gentle and compassionate with ourselves.  We may be giving up old habits that we have come to depend on, we are instituting new ways of thinking about our selves, our food, or family even our jobs.  We may be discovering beliefs we did not know we had.

Being impatient and rushing to change may keep us stuck longer than we want.  Taking the time to move through the changes, step by step – will allow us to focus on what we are learning about ourselves.  It will give us clarity, and ultimately lead to lasting changes that we feel good about.
